Price comparison?

Post by wully » Mon Aug 12, 2019 8:47 pm

So,

How come the massive price difference between - for example - a Hypernut 4 in 1 built to withstand all the foiling stresses and a ‘normal’ windsurfing board?

Good question.
No idea except to say the 4-1 sells in the SUP market where it has to compete with other manufacturers SUP boards rather than windsurf boards.
There are lots of dedicated foil boards that are also lower priced than windsurfing boards.
Maybe it’s not hard to shape a barn door :D

My Hypernut isn’t heavy in Starlite construction but to be fair the carbon SUPs are a lot more expensive and probably similar to decent windsurfers.

One thing I know from attempting board building is the inserts are a pain in the ass! It’s all man hours to get them in. A surfboard is so much easier to build as you only need a couple of boxes that don’t take much force! With a hypernut you would think it needs everything so should cost a lot!

So I don’t know!
