Early shift at Hayling to enjoy the last knockings of Eric. Not too warm, but the sun was out and the wind was there, though the promised 4m waves didn't materialise. I over-rigged with a 5.5. Some of the time I could handle it but some of the time I was just monstered. It was a bit of a splash and dash for me as I was conscious it was cold and I am unfit, so quit whilst I was ahead. Then regretted quitting as some nice little waves were forming just as I got naked. Still, fun, and my first sail of the year.

Beer and rugby for the rest of the weekend. :-)

Weston-super-Mare for a cold session. 5.3m on 103ltr was about right but cant say it was fun, still beats decorating.

I’m glad I’d finished eating when I read that last paragraph Two Fish...

I’m going to attempt to extinguish the memory of having read that with whisky, might take a while.

5m and 90 l in Christchurch harbour. Thought about sailing at Avon, but am very rusty, and so it proved. Got better towards the end and enjoyed it. Avon looked very good though. Was it? Looked pretty smooth between the sets.

Considered Avon but decided it looked a bit too off shore and its a long drive (Avon looked really good from the facebook photos) so went to Worthing instead. I arrived at 11 just as people were coming in and changing from 4s to 4.7. Rigged 4.1 Taka & Moo 66l which was perfect.

There was a bit of a wind hole in the shorebreak and quite a downwind current for the first 100 yards which made launching interesting. Pretty big waves on the outside, almost cross to the wind so some fun rides to be had. I was sailing much better than my last outing, I don't think I dropped a gybe all day. Its weird how some day, everything seems right & other times nothing works!

I stopped for lunch just after 1pm when the wind seemed to be dropping. Packed up about 2.30 just as Dave-mac arrived and went out with 6.1 And seemed to be doing well.

Good to see you Bill. Yes, my risk averse strategy worked and I got what I wanted, a nice easy blast with my 6m and my 106 RRD. Sea state pretty flat and the wind was good for a while. But as predicted it was dropping and after 40 minutes it was time to call it a day. So good to be out. Pretty rare to sail in February for me.
