GCSE PE Windsurfing

Post by crossy5575 » Tue Feb 05, 2019 9:19 am

Hi all,
I was at my Sons GCSE options evening, and he is doing PE as one of his options, however this is split into 4 sports. He possibly could do Windsurfing as one of his options.

Apparently the marking of the sports is purely on ability - rather than improvement, knowledge etc - So i was wondering if anyone has done / has a child that has done Windsurfing as a PE option, and how good do they have to be to do it? And i guess what levels do you have to be to get certain grades?

Also do we know who marks it?

Hey Crossy

It's been a few years since I did GCSEs but I did do windsurfing as part of my PE course. There should be a document online somewhere from the exam board that the school uses, detailing the marking criteria and what is required for top marks.

From my memory 10/10 on the marking scale was carve gybes and waterstarts, although I'm sure it depends on exam board.

See video from my gcse below:

Cheers
