Re: Tryed but didn't get on with it

I think quite a few people feel disillusioned at first with foiling. They have seen the video of Robby Naish flying around with one hand, everything smooth and relaxed. But in reality the first time the board flies you feel like adrenaline is running out of your ears and your heart rate is way up. H...

Re: Body armour

neil pryde and Ion both do the job. I currently have a pryde impact vest. I don't wear it much but when I do I forget I have it on. Just make sure you get one that is designed to wear with a harness - they stop the padding so it is just neoprene under your harness. Get a side zip version so you don'...

Re: Self taught or had a lesson?

I am self taught as you know. I know a few people who have had lessons at the OTC at Weymouth and when they have had good conditions they have improved quickly. But sometimes there has been no wind on the dates of the course and they have returned with theoretical knowledge. So you could go to Weymo...

Re: Xply (HD) popularity

It is a very complex subject and half the problem is you can not see half the detail that actually matters. If you could go into a shop and look underneath a batten pocket you would find some sails use overlapping panels and others put a batten pocket on top of a seam. Some brands treat the seam jus...

Re: Xply (HD) popularity

It is hard to give you a sail check list. Some of the biggest factors to the sails life span you can not see such as how long the adhesive tape will last that holds the panels together. It is a major thing, not in the first six months or maybe the first year but hit the sail hard in two years time a...

Re: Xply (HD) popularity

Thanks Sailrepair - is there any difference between the construction / components of say a Combat Vs Banzai? Yes there are lots off differences. The goyas have overlapping panels that make the batten pockets while pryde has double seams under its batten pockets. NP are big enough to have developed ...

Re: Bent boom arm - can I replace with a spare? (Neil Pryde X6)

I am a NP dealer so I have just checked for you and there are no boom arms listed as spares or in stock in the central warehouse in Germany. I can't ever remember seeing replacement boom arms. Depending on age but most X6s were bonded at the front so you could not take them apart anyway.

Re: Membrane Sails

With normal windsurf sails the film on either side of the scrim (the threads in xply) is thick enough that it takes the load and the scrim just acts as a ripstop. In membrane sail they are like yacht sails and they work the other way round. The threads take the load and the flim is there just to hol...

Re: Xply (HD) popularity

Many wave sails do a monofilm and a HD xply version...what version do you have and which variant are the most popular? People often ask for the HD version of Pryde Combats but people don't often ask for the xply version on the Goya sails. But the honest truth is most people end up getting what is a...
