Re: Friday 28 June

Hayling can be fun in an easterly as long as it's not too NE as it will be offshore and gusty. It's low tide at lunchtime and any waves (if there are any!) will be pushed in to the wedge shape between the beach and sand bar. You can ride them backside with jumps in both directions and gybe in really...

Hayling Kite armada

I see on the Hayling webcam there are men erecting fences and marquees all over the beach and car park for the Kite Armada this weekend (just as well there's no wind this week!). So avoid unless you are tempted by the dark side.

Re: Sun 16th June

Avon 11 till 3, then over to Southbourne looking for waves. Fairly quiet at Avon with about 20 riders out. Bumped into Bill and 2fish, which is always a pleasure. Sunny, warm and 15 to 20 knots SW wind, but pretty flat. Had a fun hour on FSW 90 and 5.9, but that started straining a bit, so swapped ...

Re: SAT 15TH JUNE

I really enjoyed today, 11-2 at Avon. Cross on with small waves to get some nice jumps off although they were a bit close together. 4.7 & 66L were perfect, occasionally O/P and U/P all day. Wind seemed to be dying as I came in at 2. The shingle bank was making things interesting again but I had the ...

Re: Construction methods - why not molded

I suspect we will see an increase in locally made custom windsurfers as they are now as cheap or cheaper than production (moving further away from molded). Goya/Quattro boards will be £2049 next year! (from Goya dealer meeting) I wonder what Moo boards cost. ps Flikka are €2090 for a carbon board. ...

Re: Thursday 13th June

Got to Avon beach at 10.45, wind on the outside with the usual offshore hole by the beach. Looked a bit gloomy with rain on the way so put my wetsuit on first. Went for 4.7 Taka & 66L Moo. Planed straight off the beach and I was a bit O/P on the outside. There were some small waves to get nice easy ...

Harness height and line length

There's and interesting video on the 2XS site of Simon Basset talking to Levi Siver about harness height: https://vimeo.com/337776836 Several years ago I had to switch from a waist harness to a seat harness because of really painful ribs. But when my seat harness fell to bits I couldn't find a comfo...
