Re: RYA SafeTrx

I have read about it, but would not want to put my phone in a waterproof cover as I don't trust them (if that is the way you would plan to use it). I also have a PLB which I think is more appropriate for the times I think my windsurfing is a bit risky (sailing alone in a gusty cross-off with the hop...

Re: Shortest day

Blimey, the lengths people go to find excuses not to sail........

Seriously, commiserations Arf. That sounds a bit grim.

21st December

Pure slothfulness meant I think I missed the windiest part of the day at Worthing.......didn't fancy the drive or the kites (or domestic disharmony). The forecast had it wrong and Hazza had it right, it was a dying westerly wind. However got to Shoreham at 1pm and rigged my 6m on the 106. A perfect ...

Re: Friday 21st

Yep, it is looking promising. As Hazza says, how quickly is it going to drop? HW Shoreham 9.45, big tide, almost Westerly. Fingers crossed. Not sure the wind blew as strong as forecast today but hopefully tomorrow. And mild. See if I can find some shorebreak to get done over in

Re: Shortest day

Well (on topic  ) I'm hoping there is enough daylight for a sail......... the forecast looks err ...promising, for the south coast at least.

Re: Sail quiver spacing. Discuss.

It’s interesting that there’s a perception that you need smaller spaces between smaller sails. I get the logic. 0.4m on a 4m sail is a 10% jump, but on a 5m sail, Only 8%. Personally though, I find that at higher wind strengths, ie 30 knots, there is power a plenty (pressure increases more in propo...

Re: Saturday 8 December

Nic one H. As one of the people who did sail early at Worthing I would say certain people were having a good time. I just provided the entertaiment with yet another virtuoso display of crap launching. Went for a 5.4 and being nervous of the big cross off no wind on the inside went for the 106. Sadly...

Re: Sail quiver spacing. Discuss.

Weighing just under 90kg I've got an old Tushingham Heckler 8.5 which works in about 15 knots on my Xantos Got a NP 7.2 which is fun and will hopefully work on my 106 My main sails are 4.5, 5.0 5.4 and 6.1 I got the 5.4 to infill the gap which I thought was a bit too much between the 5 and the 6, b...
