Re: Starting foiling

It doesn’t look as if it is particularly hard to reinforce a Tuttle box with glass or carbon and certainly worth doing if heading offshore(!). The process of replacing a Tuttle box shown in Alex Aguera’s video doesn’t look beyond the bounds of possibility either. It does ensure that the box is secur...

Starting foiling

It feels like now is a good time to try foiling. Windfoiling has been around long enough for kit to be available from major manufacturers including those like Slingshot with extensive experience with foils. Training courses are available and there seems to be enough knowledge about equipment and how...

Re: Would anyone use something like this?

Windsurfdev There was a system, similar to what you describe, set up five or more years ago by someone who posted on the old Boards forum. I can’t remember his name. It was a website which gathered information from online sources of secondhand windsurf equipment so that you could search and be direc...

Re: Sunday 13th Jan 2019

First sail of the year for me too, at Minster 12:00-2pm. Gusty cross-off with some big lulls and 6.5 the recommended sail size. I sailed like a wimp overpowered in the gusts on the 6.5. Despite the reasonable air temperature the water felt noticeably colder than my last session in December. Good to ...

Re: Paint matching for repairs.

I needed paint for the nose of my RRD Wave Cult so took the board to a local car paint supplier and they matched it using a RAL colour swatch and mixed a can of that colour. It wasn’t a 100% match but good enough not to notice. I've now sold the board but am left with a nearly full can of RRD red. I...

Windsurf Round Europe

Jono is through the Dardanelles and making good progress into the Sea of Marmara. But it must be cold - 6 degrees max in Istanbul.

Re: Video editing

I use iMovie to edit GoPro footage. I do this mainly on a desktop and it works well, although there is a bit of learning curve. When I'm away from home I use it on my iPad and it's surprisingly effective, although slower and more limited. On an iPad you can use it to take 15 seconds clips of your fo...
