Re: Xply (HD) popularity

Im a fan of Xply for all the reasons stated above, but my most recent 2 sail repairs have been full xply panel repairs as if you put enough force on any panel (head or feet travelling at speed...) then its going to fail where the stitching goes in. Also, having experience of horrific amounts of very...

Re: new Sail planning - thoughts / ideas

Without wanting to come across as a Blade fan boy, I have noticed that in the UK Blades have a pretty active second hand market via Facebook and/or ebay, so its not hard to build a quiver of good quality 1 year old second hand sails at sensible prices, or replace one that gets heavily used. For exam...

Re: new Sail planning - thoughts / ideas

Also, on sail sizing, I go 5.7, 5.0, 4.5, 4.2, 3.7. (90kgs, not that good, coastal sailing) - also got 6.5 and 7.5 for completeness for bigger boards. I never really miss a sail in the gap between 5.7 and 5.0 and 4.5 - its either borderline windy, windy, or proper windy! 4.2 and 3.7 hardly ever get ...

Re: new Sail planning - thoughts / ideas

I have had Blades for 6 years, and have always sailed Blades at Vass for the annual family jaunt. This year Vass have Duotone super heros and super sessions as well as Blades. I mainly sailed the Super Heros for 2 weeks of solid wind (flat, choppy water, trying loops). I never felt 100% settled with...

Re: What's wrong with windsurfing?

Great - I was at Axbridge in early January for a UK Development Squad weekend, with kids literally skating on thick ice to get their boards in the water. Despite sub zero temperatures and zero wind they had a great time for two solid days on the water. There is a strong Team15 there - some of them h...

Re: Smallest board size help

Im 89kgs and have a fanatic triwave 89 as my smallest board. Im not any expert at all! I sail Hayling and Avon mainly. I find the 89 remarkably easy to sail. I also have a 103 but prefer to be on the 89 as soon as its 5.0 weather - its easier to sail in all respects as soon as wind is up. Maybe 95 w...

Re: What's wrong with windsurfing?

Lots of reservoir based places teaching windsurfing to kids at this time of year, plus Poole harbour, probably OTC etc. Middle class parents who work love to send kids on a 3 or 5 day full time windsurfing (or dinghy sailing) course during the summer holidays. My daughter (age 14) is working (and be...

Slingshot 10mm Bolt conversion

Slingshot foils come with 10mm fin box bolts. They say they have tested normal 6mm bolts and concluded they are just not strong enough for foiling (despite supplying a M10 to M6 conversion thread as an option that I currently use). They recommend to replace 6mm bolts very frequently if you do use th...

Re: TefGel for Foil corrosion prevention

I just started using this stuff. Having trawled the internet it seems to be the very best. Lot better than marine grease and teflon tape.
