Friday 30th August

Last day on Tiree. Early start at Crossapol as the wind was forecast to drop. I arrived first and rigged 3.4 & Moo 66, wind 18mph on the beach gusting 39 mph! Underpowered on the inside and overpowered outside so it was pretty good for wave riding. It started off on shore but went cross shore as through the morning. The usual suspects arrived and rigged everything from 3.3 to 5.0.
Got some good rides and being O/P on the outside meant we could get up wind easily. I had just gybed on to a wave at about 1pm when the wind went from too much to zero and several of us had a long swim in. Nearly in, I noticed something sticking out of the water just where I was being washed in. I managed to swim to the side and avoid it and my feet touched something metal. I've seen this post before but never realised that it must be a wreck. It was low tide and springs so more exposed than usual. A bit scary!
