Sun 25th August

Live, foil, repeat..

Despite the un-optimistic forecast another nice foiling session on Cheddar reservoir. The wind only came up for an hour at 4pm, but it was magic flying across the water with blazing sun and the backdrop of Cheddar Gorge. 5.8 + XL Naish foil.

For skeptics out there I was on a 2m long foil board and once up and flying it felt very much like sailing on a waveboard with a 5m (but more interesting with a foil) except the wind was 10-12knots with occasional gusts of 13/14knots.

once you get past the learning stage foiling as absolutely the future of windsurfing in regular uk conditions. Since starting to foil I have sailed in places I never considered before.
The great thing I always loved about wave sailing is the flow of turns when the conditions are good, high speed power turns with out losing momentum. foiling is like that all the time.
I have been off the water injured since June and it is not normal windsurfing I am daydreaming about. it is 100% foiling. 8-)
