Saturday 21st March

A last bit of oceanic self isolation before I get locked down in London. Hayling from 11.30. Sunny and warm out of the wind but bloody cold on the hands when sailing. 4.1 Taka and Moo 66L, O/P at times and wallowing at others. Cross off ENE so very gusty and choppy to start with but quite nice waves on the sand bar as the tide went down.

Less out than I had expected but the car park was full. Loads of dog walkers, horse riders and families with kids.

12.30-3.30 awesome sesh at Overcombe. E'ly so evil tack quite onshore but unreal head high+ when C'church/B'mouth Bay spots were tiny. 4.7/90 'till the slight drop, ~20 others out incl. Timo, Bubble (big planing backies), Sam Ross, the new Olympic dude, Jas, Tim, Martin...GoPro still just about working but sadly not sure it got my highlight - comedy big backie bail

Southbourne, in the morning. Slightly offshore, so wind was a bit sketchy close to the beach. 5m and 104 Exocet cross. Struggled at first due to using a new board and the easterly wind direction. Relaxed eventually and had a good time. About 5 or 6 others out. Using 4 up to 5.7 but most on 5m. Once you'd got out through the cross on waves there was large rolling swell running parallel to the beach. Reminded me of sailing at flag beach correlejo. Sun was out too.

Offshore wind so it had to be the gusty old lake.
But a good day...

Flat water sail at Newton, Porthcawl, on the Shaman 96 and Icon 4.7m, good to get out after being ill for a few weeks, though the cold did sap the energy levels.
