110 firemove fin

Post by Vancam » Sat Sep 14, 2019 10:44 am

I've just got a v1 firemove 110 and it's come with a 36cm fin , would I be better getting a bigger fin to use with a 7.5mt sail or is 36 big enough .

Depends on how heavy you are to some extent...I'm 95kg and use a 41 cm Select Freeslam fin with a 7.5 on our 110 Firemove...works really well for me.

I'm about 75kg , would that mean I don't need as big a fin as heavier peeps ?

I was never very happy with the MFC Liquid Pro 36 fin which came with my 110 Firemove. I found it lost grip too easily over chop.

Following a recommendation from the old Boards forum I replaced it with a 37 Select Edge Free Slam fin. The Select Edge works works much better, even though it's not that much bigger.

I weigh about 81 kilos and use the Firemove with 6.5 and 7.5 sails.

Largest for the 7.5 would be a 40cm, this I feel could be too large if really lite up, lots of variables in your case.
The 36 is right as a one fin size. IM humble opinion

Thanks for the input everyone ,I've just got the board nd not yet use it so I'll see how I go with the one I've got . I its just that I've read such a lot of reviews over the years saying that the fins supplied with boards aren't necessarily a good match for them .

I've never used this board but if you're properly powered up with that sail I would have thought you'd be down around 32. I understand 40 ish for light winds.
