Bonaire

Post by MartinJ » Sat Mar 14, 2020 8:54 am

Two hours ago I checked in at London City for my flight to Amsterdam, the first leg of a trip to Bonaire for a Simon Bornhoft week. But in the taxi I had been getting texts from Simon saying that the word in Bonaire was that the flight was cancelled.

So it proved. Five minutes later the check-in staff waved me back to say they had just been told that Bonaire has stopped all flights from Europe. 10 minutes later my bag was returned and now I'm back at home.

That's a bummer. Not surprising right now but a bummer all the same. Dig out the winter wetsuit..... I would if I didn't have a bit of a snuffle.....
My brother just got back from Italy yesterday. Bit of a nightmare. Last flights for a while.

Yeah I think that's increasingly likely. Can I suggest dawn patrol at Hayling tomorrow morning as a poor substitute!

Colorado, here. The US is now a state of emergency. Meaning, they can ignore laws and common sense. FWIW , I would not get on a airplane right now, unless critical .
Consumers are hoarding.
April Fools DAY is cancelled . No one can top the shit going on now.

And sorry to hear your trip was cancelled.

If its any consolation you are better off getting that result when you did than when you were in the air. Or even get there and get stuck - or maybe not.

I have a friend in Cape Verde at the moment.
He may want to consider staying there but the risk is it could be for a long time.
Flights via Lisbon so pretty uncertain.

Defi Japan made it but Defi Bonaire now looks like a gone case...
I wonder if the big one will go ahead as the Official guidance is a bit vague but there will be further announcements on 31/3, 15/4 & 30/4.
Fingers firmly crossed.

Great credit to Simon Bornhoft for staying up all night to keep us fully informed. His emails, texts and phone calls made all the difference. I hope he's been able to get a flight back and isn’t stuck on Bonaire. I'm grateful to be safely home.
